When we started the project, 2 months ago, we setup an AIS station that allowed us to track maritime traffic near the gulf of Cagliari; now we are sharing these data to the AisHub network, where about 500 other stations worldwide share between themselves ships positions received by their stations.

Thanks to that, Oceanook now let you track realtime position from over 100000 vessels worldwide, collecting 1 million new positions every day.

Everyone can join the AisHub network by creating their own station: we built ours with about 200$ (basically, a VHF antenna, an AIS receiver and a RaspberryPI computer; you can see it in the attached photo).
